In every shounen manga/anime/game that involves a motley crew of do-gooders storming a villain’s hideout, there definitely are scenes in which the hero’s friends would stay behind to hold care of enemies, saying cheesy lines like “Leave this to me” and allowing the main guy to proceed, This is basically what happen in this chapter. A fellow named KATIE has created a web site TwinTailSanctuary that keeps a list of all female characters donning pigtails from anime, manga, and games. According to the site, there are at least 538 characters with this moe-zokusei. You can take a look at the list here: http://www.twintailsanctuary.net/twintail.html. Pretty impressive IMHO.
The guy seems to be obsessed with blonde twintails, in particular Fate Testarossa, and he also loves Feena-sama. (Pretty much the same taste as mine.) As for me, Emelenzia Beatrix Rudiger recently stole the position of favourite twintail girl from Fate.
By the way, according to the Japanese wikipedia, the word twintail is actually originated from otakus. However, seeing that many of the articles regarding anime fandom there lack source materials, I still wonder if this is entirely true.
This discovery prompted me to googled for some more databases of certain types of characters. Here are what I came up with before I became bored:
Hmm… Seems like I get bored quite easily.

When I knew that the doujin artist who brought us “Jam it in!” is actually a professional manga-ka, I was overjoyed. His name is Hiroyuki, and he has been penning Doujinwork, a 4koma manga about a group of quirky doujin artists and their quirky interactions, and serializing it in Manga Time Kirara since 2005. In the summer, I picked up the two volumes of this work from a local bookstore, and they don’t disappoint. Continue reading “From the Creator of “Jam it in!”: Doujinwork”
Leaving the building, Negi and the gang use a Chao Bao Zi trolley as cover. But when Negi is about to hop to another cover, he notices that someone is on the other side. Jumping out with intention to attack, Negi discovers that the person is Sister Chakti and receives tidings that almost all of the magic teachers have been wiped out, and Chao is using some kind of special bullet that creates a barrier that make everything contained within disappear. However, before they can properly end their conversation, Chakti is hit by the bullet she is still talking about and disappears. (By the way, I think this is the first time we learn that Chakti is a teacher.) This prompts Kaede to alert everyone that it’s a handy work of a sniper. The gang follows suit by taking cover in the trolley. Continue reading “Mahou Sensei Negima 152: I’ll snipe only you.”
I have just received a confirmation of employment from a Japanese game company today. They will hire me for as an intern for five months, and I’ll be working in their research and development wing, but the kinds of work I’ll do has not been decided. Hopefully, I’ll be able to learn how to program the PS3 and come up with ways to make rendering faster. I’m very excited as the company has released many RPG masterpieces.
Of course, I will not only enjoy the work and try to gain as much experience from it as possible, but will also try to do something that I cannot do otherwise unless I’m in Japan. The list includes:
- Continue my anime pilgrimage to Hinamizawa, Haruhi’s school and town, and the towns of Kanon, Air, and Fate/Stay Night.
- Trips to Kyoto, Osaka, Ise, Kumamoto, Hokkaido, etc.
- Attend doujin conventions such as Sunshine Creation, Comitia, and Hakurei Jinja Reitaisai. If I arrive in Japan soon enough, I’ll attend C71 as well.
- Of course, many many trips to Akihabara.
Oh well, but to enjoy my Japan experience to the full extent, I’ll have to finish my master thesis and a paper to a conference in two months. Everybody wish me luck, please!
