October 24th, 2008 — Nico Nico Douga
Watch below how Taiga suddenly bursts out “kimi wa dare ni kissu wo suru…” in a family restaurant.
Seriously, Triangler is a much better OP song than Pure Parade.
By the way, the original video was removed already thanks to Kings Record. This one will be gone in a few hours as well I guess.

Aso Taro just opened his own channel at Nico Nico Douga today, and here it is: http://www.nicovideo.jp/official/asou. He also greeted the users of Nico Nico Douga with the following message:
After some digging around, the LDP has been using video sharing sites to communicate for quite some time. They have a Youtube channel since November 2007 and also a Yahoo channel. It’s not a surprise that they expand to the burgeoning Nico Nico Douga. What’s notable is that the channel is not named the “LDP channel,” but “Aso Taro’s LDP Channel.” They must be trying to reach the otaku demographics there.
Looking back at Thailand, I think our policital outreach on the web is still far behind. So far, I know only one politician, Rosana Towsitrakul, who used the web as a political tool effectively. I learned of her run for the Senate from my friend via twitter, and later learned from her official website about her platform and stuffs. If you look at the website, you’ll find a number of Youtube-like videos of “cool” people talking about the importance of politics and stuffs, which I think is a great way to get the message across to middle-class people.
However, while her campaign was impressive, I’m very disappointed with Rosana personally now. (I didn’t vote for her though because my address is not in Bangkok.) She’s all out supporing the PAD, but I disagree with lots of their goals and means to achieve those.

One creative MAD maker at Nico Nico Douga took advantage of well-animated lip movement of Index in the first episode of TAMNI in the most delightful way. He/She had Index sing “Yume Wa Owaranai,” while still hanging on Touma’s balcony.
The MAD is brilliant for its perfect lip-synch. It’s also quite funny. I loled at Touma’s dropping his futon as he is bewildered by a strange nun who starts singing out of the blue. The MAD is the starting point of a series of similar videos called the ベランダで歌ってみたシリーズ, each featuring Index and Touma being lip-synched to famous songs or anime lines. Here are some good ones: Continue reading →
October 13th, 2008 — Anime
I enjoyed the first two episodes of Akane-iro ni Somaru Saka a lot. Why? Because Yuuhi is refreshingly cute despite being yet another stereotypical tsundere voiced by Kugimiya Rie.(Not that I mind the tsundere though.) First, the character design is good. I like big eyes are stuffs.

To Aru Majutsu no Index’s premise is hard to resist: school-life fantasy anime with flashy battles between espers and magic users. Naturally, I have a lot of expectation for the series. Although the first episode was not flashy as I expected, it managed to be entertaining. It’s all because of the characters:
- Touma is a cool guy: he seems jaded with all the misfortune that befalls him, yet he remains optimistic and always try to help others.
- Index’s childish exchange with Touma was fun to watch. And, yeah, she’s cute as hell.
- Mikoto is of course awesome because she has the railgun power. It’s funny to see her trying to get attention from Touma by harrassing and challenging him to fight, much like a grade-school boy who play pranks on the girl he likes. What a tsundere.
- Oh, Komoe-chan, the devious loli sensei, is great too.

October 7th, 2008 — Life, Rant
You probably heard the news. Today is one of the darkest days in the history of Thailand.
Conflict is natural, but violence is not. Everybody knows violence is bad. Yet people forget this fact so easily.
It’s because people forget that there are alternatives. It’s because people let group psychology get better of them. It’s because people think that ends justify means. It’s because of these thoughts that we all end up in this shit together.
They need to calm down. They need to start thinking about what truly makes them happy. They need to reflect on what they have done.
If Ranka Lee existed, I would request her come to Bangkok now. Just only one キラ~☆ would be needed for people to drop their weapons and anger. And, then, maybe we can start the real dialogue.

But, yeah, real life and anime are different after all…
October 5th, 2008 — Anime
Jin Mikuriya pulls an all nighter carving a statue of a “wood spirit” out of a tree trunk only to find that it later explodes and a young girl emerges from within. The girl identifies herself as a guardian deity of the land from whom all living things in the area were born. The sacred tree she slept in was recently cut down, and the trunk was subsequently given to him.

October 4th, 2008 — Anime
Lured into the series by nice mecha design, I bought and read the first volume of the Thai-translated version moons ago. The second volume couldn’t be found anywhere nearby, so I stopped there. When I heared Mamiko Noto would voice the anime version, however, I dashed to One Manga and read volume 1-4 in one night. The manga is an entertaining piece and I hope the anime would be the same. Of course, having read the manga before, I feel uneasy about the anime adaptation:
- Hayase’s flip in personality is too quick. He gets all cocky just after finding that he can destroy a wall with a bare fist. Isn’t he supposed to get shocked or something? Why did he decide to punch the wall in the first place? Untimely teenage angst? The anime Hayase is much dumber than the manga one.
- Hayase learns that Kizaki is related to Linebarrels already! So there’s going to be no tsun-tsun Kizaki getting dragged into Hayase’s group of friends? Or this delicious Hayase-barging-into-Kizaki’s-room-find-her-naked scene? (Well, we see Kizaki naked this episode already, but the scene lacks comedy.) Or this heart-to-heart talk? Oh, please Gonzo. I know you cannot help butchering the original story, but please fit these scenes in. They’re what make the manga good.
Other than that, the animation quality is solid. The robot fight is great. I don’t really mind the summoning-through-booby or other fanservice. Keep the NEKKETSU pouring like the manga and I’ll keep watching the series.

Seriously, what are you thinking here Mr. Hayase?
Rather, what am I thinking here? LOL
