Yaho! I finally came out of my blogging hiatus. Real life has taken me pretty hard. It was summer vacation in Thailand from April to May, but I had more work than I have had before. *sigh*

Clannad: A Bleak Look at Family and Child Raising
I’m at Episode 20 of Clannad now. There’s no complaint about the animation, the comedic timing, or the emotion KyoAni could project. So, expression-wise, Clannad gets an almost perfect score. Story-wise, it has down-to-earth stories that I think many find touching and easy to relate to. Spice and Wolf #1
I dig slice of life. Spice and Wolf should be slice of life, right? I don’t care about that any more. I’ll watch this show for Horo. She has all THE ATTRIBUTES. 250-year-old non-human who take a shape of a young girl? I dig that. Street smart? I dig that. Speaking like an oiran? I dig that. “Wacchi?” I dig that. Fox ears and tails? I guess I dig that. Staying naked for almost all the episode? Didn’t expect this, but YES!

This episode is material-heavy. We learned that Itsuki’s eye turned into what it is today when he, led by Honami, entered a haunted house created by spirit wave contamination. They were chased by a translucent blob. Anime cliche #54 dictates that Itsuki the boy must protect the girl who will so love him in the future by diverting danger from her to himself, and that resulted in his right eye turning ugly. The irony has it that the girl felt so guilty that she became an expert magic user just so that she can protect him instead. (This last part might not be a cliche though. I have not seen it before.)
