Random Bits #7

It’s kind of late to say this, but happy new year! Let’s enjoy anime/manga/Japanese media together this year again. ^_^

Internet Radios

After 115 episodes, Radio ToHeart2 is going to end next week. I kind of got a feeling that this would happen when they restructured the program about three months ago, removing Itou Shizuka from the program. But the upcoming release of ToHeart2 AD convinced me otherwise. (So the end of the radio means the end of ToHeart2 franchise? Will we get ToHeart3 a year from now on?) Yurishii stated that she grew during the time of Radio ToHeart2 a lot, and it would be an experience she would not forget for the rest of her life. Where is she heading next? She doesn’t seem to get new anime roles nowadays, but recently performed in a play and will perform in another one soon. So she’s going to become a stage performer for real? Good luck Yurishii in your new endeavors.

And I thought it was also the end of Lucky Star radio shows when Lucky Channel ~Ryouou Gakuen Houkago no Tsukue~ ended last week. But this week, we get Shin Lucky Channel, featuring the usual Akira-sama, Shiraishi, and the new Assistent #2 Kusakabe Misao. Seems like Misao’s popularity in Nico Nico Douga inspired this restructuring. (I kind of it better when Kagami and Tsukasa were in the program because Katou Emiri and Fukuhara Kaori sounded just like the characters they voiced, but Mizuhara Kaori’s voice and Misao’s voice are totally different.) The first episode is being broadcasted via Lantis-net as usual, but you can get an illustrated version at Nico Nico Douga:

2007 in My Anime Life

I didn’t watch as many anime as I could have last year. The biggest reason was because of my laziness and some random spurts of luck of interest that stopped me from continuing watching even many great series. Well, here are some thoughts some I watched:

  • Code Geass: Loved it as hell. Hope the second season doesn’t screw up.
  • Kanon: Loved the Mai arc. I actually cried when Sayuri’s brother died. The ending was kinda rushed though. Yuuichi and Ayu just suddenly loved each other. -_-’
  • Gundam 00: At Episode 11 now, and so far so good. Let’s pray they’ll put out more battles and
    less angsty bishounen moments.
  • Nanoha StrikerS: A faster pace could have made it better. Nanoha’s pwning Quattro with wall shattering Divine Buster is uber GAR beyond words.
  • Clannad: Great show and all, but couldn’t bring myself to watch anything beyond Episode 4 for no reasons.
  • Rental Magica: Itsuki’s random kindness is creeping me out and making the show boring as hell.
  • Bamboo Blade: It stays true to the manga, and adapts the humor there perfectly. Too bad I think they wouldn’t go as far as introducing Ura, the girl who can match Tama-chan.
  • Minami-ke: Win! I’m eagerly looking forward to Okawari.
  • Lucky Star: While the first four episodes were quite boring, things got better as they go. My favourite character is of course Hiyori.
  • Hayate no Gotoku: While not as funny as the manga, it has some funny moments. The show became
repetitive to me after watching 13 episodes or so, so I’m not watching it any more.
  • Byousoku 5cm: Shinkai needs to elaborate on Takaki’s and Akari’s separation more, seriously.

There were so many anime that I should finish. The list includes Gurren Lagan, sola, Hidamari Sketch, Manabi Straight, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, Darker than Black, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, and Idolm@ster Xenoglossia.

Upcoming Anime with Noto Mamiko

  • Kanokon: As Onodera Kouta, her second boy role after Yukinari from Girls Bravo. The female protagonist is played by Kawasumi Ayako. Talking about yuri seiyuu…
  • Mnemosyne ~Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi~: As Asougi Rin, the protagonist. This seems like Witchblade but much more explicit.
  • Kurogane no Linebarrel: As Kawazaki Emi, the female protagonist. I read the first volume of the manga and forget everything except that the mechs are really beautiful.
  • Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: As the titular character, Nogizaka Haruka, a prim ojou-sama who is a closet otaku. Listening the the radio drama of the show, I didn’t notice any geekiness exuding from her voice though. So this Nogizaka girl is quite different from your stereotypical otaku.
  • Kaitou Tenshi Twin Angel: As Blue Angle Minazuki Aoi, a moe fluff Noto-kawaii-yo-Noto is usally typecasted in. The good thing about this show is that it’s going to have a radio show, and Noto will cohost the show with Tamura Yukari, who’s known to be a really good radio personality. I can’t wait for it to broadcast. ^_^
